As a fruit grower or fruit tree nursery, you naturally want the best for your fruit trees. Using tonkin canes to support your apple trees, pear trees or cherry trees is therefore a good choice. At FS Europe, the European wholesaler with a huge range of bamboo canes, you will find inexpensive bamboo canes in all imaginable lengths from 2 feet to 16 feet.
Our bamboo sticks, known as ‘Tonkin sticks’, are imported directly from China. This ensures that we can offer these sticks at bargain prices. The bamboo canes are thick-walled, which ensures they are strong and resistant to the outdoors.
Tonkin canes are named after the region of ‘Tonkin’ in Vietnam, where this bamboo species was originally grown and exported in large numbers. Today, these canes are grown not only in Vietnam, but also in China. So we source our tonkin sticks directly from China, striving for excellent service and quality.
As a grower or cultivator, you can rely on FS Europe for fast delivery of high-quality bamboo canes. We have a large stock of bamboo canes and deliver them directly to you, the customer. So you no longer have to wait for deliveries from abroad.

Bamboo: grass species with unique characteristics
Bamboo is the name for several plant species belonging to the grasses (Gramineae or Poaceae). The term bamboo comes from Malay and is known in almost all languages (bambu, bamboo, bamboo). A special feature of this grass is that the stems consist of fibre bundles that are hollow inside and interrupted by nodes (rings, internodes) to which the leaves are attached.
The trunk of bamboo can be a few centimetres to as long as 30 metres, with a diameter of a few millimetres to 25 centimetres. Bamboo often grows fast, there is even a species that can grow up to 1 metre a day (!). A tonkin stick is a bamboo stick used to support the growth of plants and trees. The word tonkin is derived from the region of the same name in Vietnam where the plant originated. Today, the largest production of bamboo canes takes place in China, where FS Europe has its own employees.
Bamboo is pre-eminently a sustainable product that has virtually no negative impact on the environment. After harvesting, a bamboo forest recovers immediately, just like the grass of your lawn after mowing. So replanting is not necessary, bamboo grows and proliferates through its root system. These roots keep the soil structure intact and prevent erosion.
The textile industry is increasingly using bamboo fibres in clothing production. Clothes made from bamboo are silky soft, iron-free and antiperspirant.
