Strawberry cultivation:
Strawberries are cultivated in the open ground, under glass and under plastic. There are about 2000 hectares of outdoor strawberries. Strawberries can be harvested in the Benelux from the end of February to the end of December, i.e. almost all year round. Some growers try to extend this period even further to year-round by using, among other things, heating in winter and cooling in summer. The addition of extra CO2 also benefits the harvest.
